Science and Math Tutor

I tutor advanced high school to graduate level courses in chemistry, math, and environmental sciences. During the pandemic, I successfully crossed over to virtual learning, using drawing pads, virtual labs and field trips for a dynamic, visual learning experience.

2019 - present

Dog Adoption Counselor

I review dog adoption applications, meet with potential adopters to provide advice and go over adoption contracts, and conduct home check evaluations. I also assist the medical coordinator in administering medication and vaccines on med-day monthly.

July 2020

Instructor

I designed and taught LSU Pre-College's Environmental Biology virtual summer course to prepare high schoolers for AP Environmental Science and college-level Biology. Topics included biological classification, and biochemical cycles of soils and oceans. Students participated in virtual field trips to the Amazon and Australia and did virtual microscope and DNA extraction labs.

2013-2019

Graduate Research Assistant

I spearheaded field campaigns of 4-10 persons & processed 1000s of lab tests (with QA/QC). I also wrote annual reports for dept. & grant-funded projects and presented at over 12 scientific meetings. I also developed new methodology for estimating coastal delta volume & carbon using ArcGIS + Python.

I sharpened my wetland biogeochemistry skills and added sedimentology and coastal ecology to my repetoire.

Mount Holyoke College | B.A. Environmental Studies

My degree concentration was Ecosystem Science and spent my junior year honing environmental research methods at the MBL and applying them to marine environments in NC, Panama, and Singapore at the DUML (see below).
